I have had the V710 since it came out and the RF was amazing and the camera was ok. I was nervous about getting the 8940 due to the bad 8900 I had. I took a chance due to it being the nicest and smallest of the EVDO phones. I was not disappointed in my choice, The RF on this phone is not as good as the V710 but it is not far off at all. Very good reception and way better than the VX7000 and VX8000. The phone plays MP3s very well and takes very nice photos for a 1.3 MP camera phone. The EVDO V-cast video is incredibly clear and the Video capture of this phone works very well. Yes they have the SD card locked so you cannot take photos from the card to your computer but all you need is a cable and the QPST software and you can move photos at will. The screen is very sharp inside and out and the style and feel of the phone is very comfortable. The battery life is also very good. After getting this phone I had very heavy use of the phone for 2 days before the battery needed to be recharged. I bet under normal use the battery would be good for 3 days for sure and maybe 4. This is an honest review and I can say Audiovox did a good job.

  I was looking for a nice decent small size phone from verizon for a long time. And, I have found it in this Audiovox CDM-8940. I had verizon for a long time and was pleased with its service, however i had hard time finding "cool" phone, the LG-7000 and 8000 looked too bulky. then at the verizon store i looked at this Audivox, i never heard of Audivox before the phone looked perfect in the first place but i was a little hesitant. Finally with 14 day money back gurantee i decided to buy this phone. Since then i have been in love with the CDM 8940 phone. Pros: 1. Great Audio Quality, my brother later told me that Audiovox makes speakers, no wonder it sounds crystal clear. 2. Reception quality is great, never droped a single call, and i really mean it. 3.Phone got several useful features like setting alarm up for any day in the year, three alarms, world time, stop watch, calculator. 4. MP3 player is superb !!. It sounds like a real MP3 player just use the head phone provided with this phone, not to functional, i.e chosing songs, random songs etc. but hey this is phone not MP3 player 5. Great battery life, i use my MP3 player for two hours a day and still has to charge my phone every other day Cons: 1. Camera quality is Ok not great, it takes pics but not as good as u expect from 1.3 MP 2. You cannot transfer images or tones from your computer to the phone or from phone to the computer using Mini SD card. which really sucks !!! Other then that great phone, i am enjoying it hope u will too.
